Scorn

Would I be scorned
If I wrote my truth
Personal and deep
Or sound aloof

Would I be ridiculed
If I write what I know
Of the skies above
And the earth below

Some days I find the words
Others i cannot
Sometime I remember
Words that I forgot

Stoic Poetry

This Day

This single day lives a life for you
there is no other, just this time alone
the past has been put to rest
no tomorrow so make this your best

This vibrant alive moment is the world
all in a single moment shared by all
dead yesterdays, maybe tomorrows
cannot touch this day with their sorrows

Live large and be your boldest self
Because when this is gone, it is gone
there will be no redo, nor any regrets
as it passes; just another one we forget

Stoic Poetry

Cloudless

Not a single cloud
On the canvas overhead
Barns and farms stark
Against the backdrop
Indigo blue the palette

Regal trees in vivid contrast
To paint or to write?
There is really no question
On this pure idyllic day
A day to write my cares away

Stoic Poetry

Take The Punch

Do the best you can
That’s what they say
I wish I could tell you it will be okay
But it’s not, and that’s okay

We all have doubts and pain
We’re all getting wet in the rain
We’re human and that’s the game
So why would you ever complain

When your life throws a right
Tell me, are you strong enough?
With your head hanging down
You must pick it up, don’t fall down

Stoic Poetry

Remember

Remember the sky that you were born under,
know each of the stories that each star can tell.
Remember the moon, know who she is.
Remember the sun’s birth at dawn,
Remember sundown and the giving away to night.

Remember your birth, how your mother struggled
You are evidence of her life, and her mother’s,
Remember your father too, he is your life, also.
Remember the earth whose skin you are:
red earth, black earth, yellow earth, white earth
brown earth, we are earth.

Stoic Poetry

Journey

Sometimes on this journey,
you get lost in your mistakes
What might look like weakness,
is a canvas of your strength

And this story is never over,
your story’s just begun
Failing won’t define you,
that’s for your heart to do

Arriving is not the end game,
the journey is where you are
Nothing is ever perfect,
just walk with all your heart

Stoic Poetry

All We Need

No time and nowhere to go
No matter what we planned
I’ve been asleep for so long
Now it’s time to take a stand

Believe in something, anything
Apathy erodes with its touch
All beliefs share a common seed
Love can never be shared too much

Stoic Poetry

Deer Hill

From the far hill I returned,
from the hill of the flying deer
Three I have seen grazing,
three calm in my presence

I have loved you as my soul,
I would slay a deer for you
High with his branchy heads,
and fleet, his feet as of wind.

Stoic Poetry

Tomorrow

Tomorrow’s just an excuse away
Savour today before it is the past
With all your heart make it last

In midnight dreams you come to me
With warmth and tenderness
To chase my fears with your caress

If we’re consumed by counting the hours
Then what do we have left of the day
Before we see it, it will pass away
