We knew this would happen, a long time ago
Yet we did nothing, mostly it was inconvenient
Hoping someone else could fix the problems
There never was anyone other than pointing fingers
Death in far off places became entertainment
Something we like to watch on the evening news
They are not us; feeling so sorry for them over there
I never knew it was our job to keep them alive
“Head in the sand,” politics has become the norm
One day soon we will awaken one day to sadly realise
It has begun hitting closer to home sweet home
A little to late; as we see it will soon be all gone
