This World

Sometimes the world surprises me
With a gentle smile, not seen in a while
Or a kind word which is seldom heard

Some days the world is so cold
As if no one cares, and no one shares
Wrapped up in themselves and no one else

Usually the world goes about its ways
And it’s not to blame for the people’s shame
They make their choices with their own voices
