More Than Skin

Draw yourself a picture
Of what you look like
Maybe then they might
Feel an ounce of your pain

Come into focus
Step out of the shadows
This is not a battle
Never be ashamed

They don’t even know you
All they see is scars
They don’t see the angel
Living in your heart

Let them see the real you
Buried deep within
Let them finally know
That you are not your skin

  1. OMG!! This is exactly how I feel when I’m having a bad day and i can’t talk because I’m stuttering to bad, but I want to let the person I’m talking to my story and why I’m in fact stuttering in the first place. Drug abuse in my days past, couldn’t walk a mile in my shoes that granted.

  2. Reblogged this on SafeSpace and commented:
I have always tried to show friends and family that I’m not the same person that committed the crimes in my past, but a renewed version with maturity and actual wisdom I have retained throughout the years. I am not the skin I live in. Like he said. They are just seeing scars.
